A special service giving thanks for the contribution and sacrifice of serving and former Armed Forces personnel will take place in Dumfries as part of Armed Forces Week.
The thanksgiving service will be held at St Michael’s and South Parish Church at 11.15 am this Sunday June 28 and will feature representatives from the Armed Forces community.
As the Burgh Kirk of Dumfries, St Michael’s and South hosts the town’s Armed Forces Week thanksgiving service, bringing together serving personnel, veterans, their families and members of the wider community.
St Michael’s and South Session Clerk Audrey Brown said: “Armed Forces Week is an important opportunity to recognise the dedication, commitment and sacrifice of those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces.
“This service allows us to come together in thanksgiving, while also recognising the invaluable support provided by military families.
“We are proud to host this special occasion and would be delighted to welcome serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families, as well as anyone wishing to show their support for the Armed Forces community.”
The service is open to all, whether they have a direct connection to the Armed Forces or simply wish to join in giving thanks for the service and sacrifice of others.
Mrs Brown added: “The Armed Forces have played and continued to play an important role, and many people in Dumfries and the surrounding area have personal or family connections to military service.
“We hope this service will provide an opportunity for reflection, gratitude and fellowship, and we invite everyone attending to stay afterwards for refreshments and conversation.”
Anyone wishing to attend the service is welcome to do so.
