Kevin was inspired by others who have taken on the “EveryStreet’ challenge and DGWGO went along to find out more.
Kevin has created a blog, as part of his University studies to promote Dumfries and fundraise for Dementia UK.
Kevin said, “The challenge I’ve taken on is to run every street in the town of Dumfries, which is my hometown, and something that I’ve been working on steadily over the last few months since January actually.”
“I would say roughly 80% or thereabout so yeah I’m starting to get towards the end of the journey. I thought it was going to be about 200 miles in total when I started and so far I’ve done about 180 so yes I’m getting there.”
‘Raise some funds for a good cause’
Kevin added “I’ve set up a just giving for Dementia UK. Dementia is something that’s affected my family at various times in my life. I know it affects so many other families as well so I thought while I was doing this it would be a good opportunity to raise some funds for a good cause. People have been very generous so far. There have been quite a few corners of Dumfries that I either haven’t visited for a long time or just had never a reason to go there”
Kevin hopes to also encourage others to dust off their running shoes and explore the backstreets of their local area.
