Volunteers Sought For Sandhead Community Garden

Are you a budding Alan Titchmarsh or just fancy growing your own vegetables or flowers?

The old tennis courts in Sandhead have been transformed into a community friendship garden and the team behind the project are keen to attract volunteers.

The project recently secured over £5,000 from the Kilgailloch Community Fund and ScottishPower Renewables to help provide a permanent water source, wood for planters, more plants and trees, and a water feature for the sensory area.

Within the fenced garden is a large pergola which will become a beautiful centrepiece and a tranquil spot to rest after hard days growing.

Marie Hanlin, via the Sandhead Community Garden Planters Facebook page, commented on some of the vegetables grown in 2021  “I had some potatoes from it and a cabbage both delicious that was my dinner last night thank you so much I’m a picky eater and ate the lot that’s a big achievement for me thank you very much”
