DELIVERY MAN HURT IN ATTACK BY STRANGER ATTEMPTING TO ENTER HIS VAN

Police Scotland officers in Langholm are investigating the report that a parcel delivery van driver was attacked while making a delivery in the West Water Farm area near Langholm, sometime around 1240 hours on Friday 10 June 2016. At that time the 27 year old driver from Newcastle was returning to his van when he discovered the following described man attempting to enter it.  On challenging this man the driver was attacked and struck him with some sort of implement.  The attacker then ran off.  As a result the driver received a superficial scratch to his arm.

Sergeant Carolynne Crozier said “the location of this attack is well out into the countryside, off the B7068 road between Langholm and Waterbeck,  The man we want to speak to is described as white, about 6’4″ tall, stocky build, mousey brown hair which was unkempt and straggly, clean shaven, and was wearing a grey hooded top, black jogging bottoms and had a rucksack on his back.  He spoke with a Scottish accent.  Anyone who can help us identify this man should call us on 101.”
