POLICE SEARCHES RECOVER £2000 OF DRUGS IN STRANRAER AND NEWTON STEWART

On Friday 20 May 2016 Officers from Police Scotland executed a number of drugs search warrants in the Stranraer and Newton Stewart area.

A total of four premises and seven people were searched during this enforcement operation. With the assistance of Specialist unit’s entry was forced to some of the premises.

As a result of the searches a substantial amount of drugs with a value of nearly £2000 were recovered, some of which was undoubtedly for onward supply to others.  The drugs recovered included heroin, cocaine and cannabis. Four people will be reported to the  Procurator Fiscal for their involvement in the illegal supply or use of drugs. Two of these individuals were held in police custody to appear at Stranraer Sheriff Court on the next lawful day and have been reported for being concerned in the illegal supply of controlled substances

Inspector Gavin McHallum stated “This operation demonstrates Police Scotland’s commitment to tackle those involved in the illegal supply of drugs on our streets and ensure they are brought to justice. Enforcement action like this sends a clear message to drug dealers that some day soon we could be coming through your door. With the support of our communities we will continue to seek out drug dealers and reduce the opportunities for them to run their illicit business and inflict harm on our families”
