LOCKERBIE POLICE OFFICER WINS BATON OF HONOUR

An officer from the Dumfries and Galloway Division of Police Scotland who has just finished her basic training at the Scottish Police College has won the prestigious Baton of Honour on course 3/16.  Constable Courtney Richards, who is 24 years completed the course on Friday 13 May 2016 and was presented with the Baton of Honour at her passing out parade by Assistant Chief Constable Higgins.  Courtney, who comes from Lockerbie will be stationed at Castle Douglas on her return to Division said “It was a proud moment and I am truly honoured to have received this award.  I am looking forward to a long career within the Police service and serving my local community.”

The baton of Honour is presented to the outstanding student during an officer’s basic training at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan.  Courtney was part of a course of 71 new police officers on the course from all over Scotland.
