Police Appeal Launched After BMW Goes On Fire On A74(M)

POLICE Officers are appealing for information after one or two people were seen leaving the scene of a car fire on the A74(M) northbound near Lockerbie.
It was reported around 6.10pm on Tuesday, 5 October, that a black BMW X5 car was on fire on the hard shoulder three miles north of junction 17.
A witness reported seeing one or perhaps two people leave the car. They may have left the motorway across nearby fields and may have been carrying a bag or suitcase.
Inspector Colin McKinstry said: “We are concerned that a person or people inside this car may have been injured and we want to make sure they are safe and well.
“I am appealing to anyone who has not spoken to us and may have information or dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries to get in touch.
“I am also appealing to those inside the car to get in touch to let us know that they are safe and well.”
