DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES PREPARE FOR ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF MUSEUMS

Museums and galleries across Dumfries and Galloway are getting ready to take part in Scotland’s annual Festival of Museums, a nationwide programme of cultural events taking place from 15 – 17 May.
Local events include everything from ‘The Castle is Alive’ a free event at Stranraer Museum where visitors can learn about the Castle of St John’s 500 year history through the eyes of those who lived it; to the ‘Viking Raiders and Traders – Viking Tavern’, an evening event at Dumfries Museum where visitors can enjoy an evening’s entertainment in the company of local Vikings.
The Festival is run by Museum Galleries Scotland, the National Development Body for Scotland’s museums and galleries. The three-day long event will showcase Scotland’s extensive cultural offering through over 100 exciting events taking place across the country. The programme caters to all ages and interests and includes everything from historical re-enactments and night time murder mysteries to children’s storytelling and arts and crafts.
