Future of Dumfries Music Scene Discussed at Social Evening

Dumfries Music Conference will be back at The Stove Network, 100 High Street, on Saturday 24th March for their free event ‘DMC Social’. The evening will provide people the chance to meet with organisers, venues, bands and artists that make up the Dumfries music scene.

Martin Joseph O’Neill, DMC Operations Manager, commented: ‘This is a real chance to build bridges between not only bands and songwriters but between venues, organisers and those involved in showcasing the local music scene. We want to hear other people’s ideas on how to make things happen as well as learn about what’s coming up over the next year.’

Since it was launched in 2012, Dumfries Music Conference, which is predominantly aimed at 14-30 year olds, has welcomed a huge range of people from across the music industry. That includes organisations and companies like Born To Be Wide, Chemikal Underground, the BBC, Soma Records, Ministry of Sound, Funktion-One, Cryptic and Mircodot. Following its successful flagship conference, which was held at The Stove on 19-21 October 2017, DMC is looking forward to an exciting year ahead, with the DMC Social being the next event within a year-long plan of projects and workshops.

DMC Social invites the people of Dumfries to join them in discussing the future of the Dumfries music scene, and how everyone can work together to create it. They would like to hear from the people that make the Dumfries music scene as vibrant as it is – whether you’re an MC, play in a band, are a technician or run a music venue. The informal conversation will help to grow this scene, and how bands and venues can be supported to be more sustainable.

The event will also feature ‘The Listener’s Lounge’ in The Stove’s Room 2 space – an opportunity to hear a classic album from start to finish through the Stove’s Function-One sound system in the comfort of their Room 2 studio living space!

DMC invites you to come along on Saturday evening from 6pm. The event is free and BYOB.
