Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1259 Prime hoggs and Cast Sheep on Tuesday 2nd February 2016.
1039 prime hoggs sold to average 179.4(SQQ 180.56). Export weight 40 – 44 kilo hoggs well fleshed were much sharper and were in short supply. Heavy and light hoggs were similar to last weeks trade.
Hoggs sold to a top of £93.50 for a pen of Beltex hoggs weighing 44.2 kilos from Messrs Kerr, Midtown, Castle Douglas. Top price per kilo was for a pen of Beltex from Messrs Fitzsimon, Sunnyhill, Holywood, scaling 39.3kg, 218.8p per kg and £86.
220 Cast sheep sold sharper for all classes. Top today was £112 for Texels from Byrecroft. Blackface to £61 from Boreland of Parton.
