Wallets Marts Scotch Mule Ewe Lamb Sale Monday 30th August 2021

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited Monday 30th August 2021 continued their Scotch Mule sales when they sold 8172 ewe lambs.

 

At the pre sale show, sponsored by Solway Agriculture, the Judge Mr A Booth, Hesley Hall awarded the Champion rosette for the pen of 40 to Messrs Shennan, Farden which sold to £198.  Reserve in this section was Messrs Brown Macqueston which sold for £185.  A new class in the Show was for pens of 20 and this was won by Messrs Mckie, Finniness and made £200 and reserve was Ryan Ferguson, Craigton which sold to £160.

 

Prices for selected pens were well in excess of seen before, topping at £202 for Fardens second pen.  Overall lambs were a credit to the vendors who were well rewarded with averages being up £10.92 to level at £132.27 for an extra 1032 sold.

A small show of 24 OTM cattle were forward and these topped at £1384 for a Limousin cow from Gelston Castle and 193ppk for an overage Angus steer from Messrs Armstrong, Langbarns.
