Currie European Plan to Relocate from Heathhall Site

Dumfriesshire politicians David Mundell and Oliver Mundell are keen to work with Currie European as they plan to relocate from their Heathhall site.

The haulage company say they want to move closer to the M74 corridor in a bid to make the business more competitive and efficient in coming years and the local MP and MSP are keen to secure a positive future for the 185 workers employed by the firm.

Commenting David Mundell MP said: “Currie European have been a major employer in the area for a number of decades which has been hugely welcome for the local economy.

“From a business point of view, I can understand why they are looking to relocate to nearer the M74 corridor and I would be keen to meet with them to ensure the jobs are kept in Dumfriesshire.

“Any relocation move would hopefully bring even greater benefits for workers and the local economy and I hope that a suitable site can be found as quickly as possible to allow a smooth transition.”

Adding to the news, Oliver Mundell MSP said: “The jobs at Currie European are hugely important for families in Dumfriesshire and I hope that any relocation would keep the jobs local to this area.

“I’m keen to work with Currie European to engage the community ahead of any plans for a new site emerging to give confidence to the local community that a new site will be viable in the long-term.

“Currie European are a real success story for Dumfriesshire and I’m very keen to ensure that remains the case.”
