INSIDE TRACK . . . modern studies students at Annan Academy were given a first hand account of the twists and turns of political life at Westminster on Friday.

Dumfriesshire Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP and former Scottish Secretary David Mundell made one of his regular visits to the school to give an overview on developments and answer questions from pupils on his work as a politician.

Mr Mundell said afterwards: “The Academy pupils had a wide range of questions from whether voting should be compulsory to increasing gender equality in the UK Parliament. Perhaps, surprisingly and refreshingly, Brexit was not the overriding topic.”
