Drivers in and around Lochmaben can now make use of a new high-speed electric vehicle charging point at the Tesco Express store, improving local access to rapid EV charging in Dumfries and Galloway.
The charger, operated by UK-based company Zapgo, delivers up to 200kW of power across two bays.
The new site is open 24 hours a day, with full CCTV coverage and easy contactless payment. It’s part of a growing network of public EV charging points helping to make life easier for electric car drivers living in or visiting the region.
Neil Mahapatra, CEO of Zapgo, said the company was “delighted to bring Lochmaben its first rapid charging site, giving local residents, visitors and electric fleet operators the confidence that they can charge quickly and reliably in this rural location.”
For Dumfries and Galloway, where many rural communities have traditionally faced limited access to charging infrastructure, the installation represents another step towards making electric travel more practical across the South of Scotland.

With more people switching to electric cars each year, new rapid charging points like this one are expected to play an important role in encouraging greener journeys and supporting sustainable transport across the region.
