15 Patients Have Covid at Annan Cottage Hospital

WORK has been continuing to take place in response to the detection of COVID cases associated with Annan Cottage Hospital.

Rapid testing of patients and staff along with enhanced cleaning within the hospital has provided a greater understanding of the situation.

A total of 15 positive cases of COVID have been confirmed among patients within the hospital.

This comes as very high numbers of cases continue to be detected within the local community – with new cases continuing to emerge across all four of the region’s localities: Nithsdale, Stewartry, Wigtownshire, and Annandale and Eskdale – and a notable prevalence within the DG12 postcode area.

At the present time, Annan Cottage Hospital continues to remain closed to new admissions, transfers and routine in-patient visiting – with exceptions for end of life, children, and patients with mental health issues including dementia, learning disabilities and autism.

It is possible that some services at Annan Cottage Hospital may be affected by the actions which are being undertaken, and anyone impacted by that will be contacted directly.

Amid ongoing cases of COVID within the local community, a reminder is issued of the very great importance of following current rules and guidance.

This includes giving thought to being as fully vaccinated as possible against COVID-19, with details on scheduled appointments and drop-in clinics available at www.nhsdg.co.uk/vaccines.

Regular testing for COVID-19 is also encouraged, with details available at www.nhsdg.co.uk/testing and a request that all results are logged so as to help provide the best possible understanding around spread of the virus.

It is vitally important that anyone who believes they may be experiencing symptoms of COVID immediately self-isolates, arranges to have a COVID test, and continues to self-isolate until results are received.
