53 Year Old Man Attacked With Baseball Bat – Dumfries

POLICE SCOTLAND is appealing for information after a 53-year-old man was assaulted in Dumfries on Saturday 23rd June.

Around 9pm, police received a report of a disturbance in Castle Street, Dumfries involving two men, resulting in a 53-year-old man being struck by a baseball bat. The injured man was checked over by paramedics at the scene.

The suspect ran from Castle Street towards George Street, with two other unidentified people, before being seen to leave in a silver coloured car. The suspect is described as having a beard and wearing red shorts. There is no further description available at this time.

Officers are checking for any relevant CCTV footage which could assist their enquiries.

Inspector Hugh McCombe said, “Many people were out socialising in Castle Street last night and I would ask them to get in touch with us. They may have information which could assist our enquiries and help us establish a motive for this incident. Although, you may think your information is not important, I would you urge to contact us. Any small piece of information, no matter how insignificant it can seem, could prove vital to the investigation.”
