ATTACKER TRIES TO GET AWAY WITH HANDBAG – ANNAN

Police Scotland officers in Annan are investigating an attempted robbery which took place around 0100 hours on Saturday 19 August 2017. At that time 22 year old woman was walking in the alleyway which joins English Street to Johnstone Street in the town when she was attacked and an attempt was made to steal her handbag. A tussle ensued and the female was able to keep hold of the bag before her attacker made off.

Detective Constable Scott Ruddick said “This was a terrifying experience for this young lady as she made her way home after a night out. The description of her attacker is that he is male, around 5’6” tall, medium build and was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and jeans. We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area between Lady Street and Wellington Street to get in touch with us if they saw or heard anything suspicious. In particular we are keen to hear of any sightings of this male either before or after the attack. Callers can get in touch with police at Annan on the 101 number, or if they wish, anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
