Police Scotland is now able to release the name of the man found dead in the Dalbeattie Burn, near to the bowling club, on Thursday 27 June 2019, as 55 year old George McNaughton, who lived at Craignair Flats in the town. Enquiries into the death, which is being treated as unexplained are ongoing. The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
Detective Constable Jack Service said “we are keen to trace the movements of Mr McNaughton on Tuesday evening in Dalbeattie. We know that he was at home in the early evening, however would ask that anyone who may have seen him about the town after 5pm that night call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 0759 27/6.”
