CAR AND CARAVAN SET ON FIRE – ANNAN

Police Scotland is investigating two suspicious fires in Annan on Saturday 5 November 2016. In the first, a caravan which was parked in McMurdo Road in the town was found on fire at around 2245 hours. Around that time a number of youths, only described as teenagers with hooded tops on, were seen damaging the caravan prior to is being found ablaze. The fire was extinguished by the Fire and Rescue Service, however not before the caravan was almost destroyed.

In a second incident, a silver coloured Ford Fiesta car which was parked in Queensway in the town was found on fire at around 2310 hours that night. Again the fire was extinguished by the Fire and Rescue Service, and again it was badly damaged as a result.

Constable Emma Morgan at Annan said “we are keeping an open mind as to whether the two fires are connected at this stage. We do want to hear from anyone who may have been in the McMurdo Road or Queensway areas around these times on Saturday night to get in touch with us at Annan if they have any information which might help us catch those responsible. Setting fire to property such as this is extremely reckless and the consequences could have been tragic if anyone had been passing at the time.
