Overnight Spate Of Tool Thefts Leaves Local Tradesmen In Distress

POLICE in Castle Douglas are investigating after a number of vans were targeted in the town overnight and several thousand pounds worth of tools stolen.

A van in Birkland Road and another in Meadow View in the town have been targeted with over £10,000 worth of power tools and joinery equipment stolen. A further attempt by those responsible to break into a van in Oakwell Crescent was unsuccessful.

Constable Tamsin Tyeson based in Castle Douglas said “These thefts have a huge impact on the victims, many of whom depend on power tools for their livelihood.
We want to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in Castle Douglas area overnight or may have captured any vehicles or people sneaking around on CCTV during the night.
Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
One if the victims ‘Adam Blaikie’ posted an image of the inside of his emptied work van this morning(Main Image) and made this statement “My van has been cleared of all tools last night if anyone has seen anything or gets offered tools please let the police know!
These are my way of earning a living and are worth thousands!”
