4-year-old Narrowly Avoids Being Struck By Car In Newton Stewart

Police Scotland are investigating after a young child narrowly avoided being struck by a car on the pedestrian crossing in Newton Stewart on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred when a man was crossing the road with his 3 young children in the towns Victoria Street around 4:30 pm (10th December). A small red Suzuki 4×4 style vehicle approached the crossing, failed to stop for the red light and the man had to pull his 4-year-old daughter out the vehicles path.

Constable Callum Jardine, based at Newton Stewart said, “we have reviewed town centre CCTV of the incident, however due to the time of night we have been unable to identify the red Suzuki any further at this time. I would ask anyone that witnessed the incident, or was in Newton Stewart’s main street around the time and has a dash-cam footage that may have captured the details of the vehicle to make contact with Police at Newton Stewart on 101.”
