UPDATE: Traced Safe and Well: Concern Grows For Missing Teenager From Dumfries

UPDATE: traced safe and well : 6th August

Police are continuing to appeal for information to trace Alam Kharote (14), who has been reported missing from Dumfries.

Alam was last seen in the Hardthorn Road area around 3pm on Saturday, 31 July, 2021, however following enquiries we believe he boarded a train at Lockerbie at 5.10pm the same day.

The train was heading to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station. He thereafter took another train from Manchester to Birmingham believed to be around 7.30pm the same day.
He then boarded a train at Birmingham at 3.15pm on Sunday, 1 August, heading to London Euston and CCTV captured him in the train station at 4.45pm on Platform 4.

He is described as Middle Eastern, 5ft 5in tall, of slim build with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a navy blue zip-up top, blue denim jeans, black slider footwear and was carrying a grey/silver backpack.

Inspector Colin McKinstry, of Dumfries Police Station, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace Alam, and we are becomingly increasingly concerned for his welfare. He doesn’t speak very good English and we believe he has very little money with him.

“Our enquiries so far suggest that he is in the London area. Were you any of these trains, did you see him or speak to him?

“Anyone with any information that could assist us in tracing Alam is urged to contact Police Scotland by calling 101, quoting incident 2547 of 31 July.”
