Dumfries and Galloway Council has launched a consultation asking the public for their opinions on taxis in their local area.
The Council has agreed to a detailed review of how the local Taxi and Private Hire Service is licensed by them. The review is currently concentrating on Vehicles and Drivers. The review will involve research and will look at how other areas licence their taxis and private hire services. Our Council will also be speaking to individuals who operate in the trade to gain their insight into the issues around taxi and private hire licensing provision.
A significant contribution to this review will be customers telling of their experience of the local service and giving views on how things can be improved through the licensing system.
The consultation will run until Wednesday 20 August. Anyone wishing to have their say on can make this contribution through completing the survey on the Council website. You can access the survey here; http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=13683
All responses will be collated and presented to the Licensing Panel later this year.
Director of the Chief Executive Service, Alex Haswell, said; “This review is your chance to express your views on taxi service provision in Dumfries and Galloway. Whether you live in Langholm, Lockerbie, Wanlockhead or Whithorn your opinion counts. Your views will be listened to by Panel members and each and every response we receive is invaluable, local feedback. Taxi and private hire vehicles and drivers must provide a service which is safe, fair and customer focused and this survey will help us achieve this.”
