Gerald Wilson, 67, of Lockerbie has today been jailed for 10 years after he admitted to child sex abuse between 1987 and 1993.
Police investigations into Wilson began in 2013 after one of the victims came forward and reported the abuse to police. Despite this report being received 20 years after the crimes were committed, Police enquires were carried out and Wilson was charged and has now been convicted.
Detective Inspector Robin Ferguson said “We welcome the significant sentence given to Wilson today for what were shocking crimes perpetrated against children. The courage of all the victims in coming forward and assisting our investigation must be commended, and I would like to encourage anyone who has suffered abuse, no matter how long ago, to report it to the police.
All victims of sexual offences will be treated with the utmost sympathy and discretion and all reports of sexual assault will be fully investigated”.
