Witness Appeal Launched As Palnure Crash Victim Named

POLICE Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A75 road near Palnure, Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway on Wednesday 2 October 2019.

57-year-old Margaret McClelland from Creetown, Newton Stewart was was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision when her silver coloured Toyota Aygo car was involved in the incident with a white coloured Volvo articulated lorry being driven by a 54 year man from Garlieston.The driver of the lorry was uninjured. An 18 year old female passenger in the lorry was taken to the Galloway Community Hospital to be checked over. She was later released. The road was closed and a full crash scene investigation was carried out.

Constable Caillie Douce of the Roads Policing Unit said “Enquiries into the cause of this collision are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed it to call us on the 101 number quoting the reference number 2135 2/10. Anyone who may have captured this collision on a dash-cam is also asked to call this number.”

The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
