Police Appeal For Witnesses To Fire Incidents – Dumfries

POLICE SCOTLAND are appealing for witnesses after a report of a fireraising at Maxwelltown Day Care Nursery, Lochside Road, Dumfries on Monday 2nd March.

At 7.15 pm, Police were called by Scottish Fire and Rescue in relation to a fire at the nursery. The fire was within a steel storage container which is next to the nursery building.

The fire then spread resulting in damage to the windows and wooden cladding on one side of the nursery.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Watch Commander stated the fire was a deliberate act and confirmed the building was a health and safety risk due to the asbestos.

Given the close proximity of this fire and the fireraising in Waverly Road a short time later,( Details below) both incidents are being linked and treated as wilful fireraising.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of a fireraising on Waverly Road, Dumfries at 9 pm on Monday 2nd March.

During patrols, Police were flagged down by members of the public stating there was a fire to a garden hedge at a property in Waverly Road, Dumfries.

Fire service attended and extinguished the fire however the hedge was damaged as a result.
