POLICE SEARCH FOR GANG AFTER TWO MEN ASSAULTED – DUMFRIES

POLICE Officers in Dumfries want to identify three men following two unprovoked assaults in the town late on Saturday night. Around 9.30pm on Saturday 13 October 2018 a 54 year old who was walking in Stakeford Street, near to the junction with College Street, was attacked and assaulted by one of the men in the group. As a result he received head injuries and was treated at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

In a second attack, a 56 year old man was found about 11.15pm, lying on an area of grass behind Stakeford Street, only about 50 metres from where the first attack took place. This second victim was also the subject of an unprovoked attack by a group of three men. The victim received cuts and bruising to his face and was treated and later released from Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Constable Kelly Douglas said “The description of the three men we want to speak to in relation to both these assaults are as follows:
(1) in his 20s, skinny build, gaunt face, about 5′ 10″ tall, had receding blonde hair and was wearing a navy tracksuit with an orange stripe round the collar.
(2) in his early 20s, skinny build, about 5’10” tall and was wearing a grey hooded top.
(3) about 23/23 years old, stocky/muscular build, short brown hair, had facial hair and was wearing a black jacket, t-shirt and jeans.
“We want to hear from anyone who may have seen, or can help us identify these three men. The victims in both cases were subjected to sustained and unprovoked attacks and the consequences could have been so much worse. Anyone who has any information which might help in this enquiry is asked to call us at Dumfries on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 4218 of 14/10.”
