Elderly Shoppers Have Purses Stolen In Dumfries

Dumfries police are investigating two purse thefts which happened in the town on Monday afternoon, 29 January 2018. Sometime around 2.30pm whilst a 76 year old woman was shopping in the Morrisons store in Leafield Road, she had her purse stolen. The purse contained cash and bank cards. In a second incident a short time later, a 60 year old woman shopping in the Tesco store at Cuckoo Bridge had her purse stolen, which contained cash and bank cards. On both occasions the following described man was seen near to the victims. He is described as being white, heavy build, dark hair which is receding, and was wearing a light grey jumper, blue jeans and black boots.

Constable Richard Davidson said “We are reviewing CCTV from both stores and have identified the described man as being near to both the victims just prior to the thefts. It might be that this man was accompanied by a female at this time. We are appealing for anyone who may have been in either store on Monday afternoon to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious. Callers can contact us on the 101 number and should quote PDG 0021680118.”
