Region Sees Increase In Number Of New Covid Cases 

A TOTAL of 23 new positive COVID-19 cases were identified in Dumfries and Galloway in the seven days up to April 25 2021. 

This was an increase on fewer than five in the previous week.

Similarly, the number of new close contacts increased from 17 in the previous week to stand at 244.

A total of 3324 PCR COVID-19 tests were carried out over the week ending April 25, down very slightly from 3344.

The nationally calculated seven day positivity rate for Dumfries and Galloway is estimated to be around 0.4 per cent on 22 April. In the week ending 15/04/2021 it was 0.2 per cent.

As at 22/04/2021, the overall seven day positivity rate is 10.1 per 100,000. In the week ending 15/04/2021 it was 2.7.

Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Partnership is currently managing one outbreak of cases localised in Upper Nithsdale, where testing is continuing through the end of the week.
