Safe Stolen From Newton Stewart Butchers Shop

POLICE SCOTLAND are seeking the help of the public in the Newton Stewart area after another break-in in the locality over the past few days. In the early hours of Thursday 6 September 2018 the premises of John D Owen and Son, Butcher, Victoria Street, Newton Stewart, was broken into. The safe from the premises was taken in the raid, however this was later discovered at around 2.25am in Victoria Street, near the junction with Riverside Road in the town, still intact.

Constable Gavin Maxwell at Newton Stewart said “We are asking for the help of the public to try and identify a blue coloured Ford Focus car which was seen in the area, in the early hours of Thursday morning and which is thought to be connected to this crime. Likewise anyone who might have seen this vehicle in or around the area over the past few days is asked to call police at Newton Stewart on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 0249 of 6/9. We are asking the public to be alert to any suspicious activity in the area and to call us at the time, to give us a chance to attend and check the matter out there and then.”
