Search Operation Launched After Man Heard Shouting For Help – Port William

EMERGENCY Services launched a search at around  9:55 PM, last night (Sunday 25th of August 2019), after receiving reports a male voice was shouting for help near to Port William Harbour , Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway.

The voice reportedly asked for emergency services to be contacted and a multi-agency search operation was launched. Searches of the Port William area took place over a number of hours, however no one was found.

A Police Spokesperson Stated “We are looking to identify a couple seen in the area at the time, described as 30’s / 40’s who are not believed to be local, but were visiting family in the area. They were believed to be standing near the harbour wall and assisted a woman in an initial search for the male who had been shouting from the beach / water.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and either heard someone shouting for help, or can offer an explanation as to what happened should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4878 of 25th August 2019.”
