Two Rushed to Hospital After Serious Accident on A76 near Dumfries

Two People have been rushed to hospital after being involved in a serious road traffic collision on the A76 near to Auldgirth, Dumfries and Galloway just before 1.00pm today, Thursday the 23rd of August.

The two vehicle collision is reported to of involved a motorcycle and a car, both the male motorcyclist a female driver of the car have been taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Traffic Scotland have reported that the A76 is currently closed and diversions are now in place.

Description: The A76 is closed in both directions at Auldgirth due to a road traffic incident.Motorists are advised to use available signed diversion route and should allow extra time for their journey.

Diversion: Northbound, At junction A76 with B729 at Holywood – turn left to B729 – continue to Kirkland – turn right to the A702 – continue to Thornhill to rejoin A76 northbound. Distance: 16.7 miles Southbound, At junction A76 with A702 at Thornhill – turn right to A702 – continue to Kirkland – turn left to B729 continue to Holywood to rejoin A76 southbound Distance: 16.7 miles

 

UPDATE – Traffic Scotland Report that the A76 has now re-opened after the earlier reported Road Traffic accident.
