Police Scotland officers are investigating the second break-in this month at the Premier Stores in Auchencrieff Road South, Locharbriggs, Dumfries. On this occasion the thieves fled empty handed after having broken into the premises at around 0200 hours on Tuesday 19 July 2016.
Constable Bruce Kemp at Dumfries said “it might be the case that the alarm sounding forced the thieves to abandon their plans to rob the store. This is the second break-in this month, and on the previous occasion cigarettes were the target. We are carrying out door to door enquiries in the area and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything around this time. In particular we have a report about a moped heard driving up and down the street just prior to the break-in and are keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify the rider of that machine. Callers can speak to us at Dumfries on the 101 number.
