As the Wild Spring Festival begins (4 April – 4 May) Castle Kennedy Gardens are holding several events, organised by their Garden Ranger, over the next few weeks to encourage visits to one of Scotland’s most magnificent gardens. A new menu has been introduced to the Garden’s Tea Room, as part of Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink, offering an excellent selection of paninis, baked potatoes, sandwiches and delicious home-baking.

On 8th April the Garden Ranger will take children on a special exploration in one of the Garden’s most popular activities -pond dipping – which is also running on the 15 April. Families can discover the many weird and wonderful creatures, including huge rare newts, living in and around the two acre Round Pond.

Also on 8 April locals and visitors to the area are invited to join a Champion Trees Guided Walk, hosted by the Head Gardener who will identify 20 of the tallest, broadest, oldest or most impressive tree of its kind recorded by the Tree Register.

On Sunday 12 April a Bug & Mini-Beast Adventures will thrill tiny tots and older children where they will learn all about the wonderful creatures which make the Gardens their home.

A Spring Blooms Guided Walk on 22 April offers expert insights into the keeping of such a stunning Garden with a special focus on seasonal Rhododendrons and Azaleas as they burst into colour along with Magnolias and spring bulbs.

All Ranger activities begin at Castle Kennedy Ruins and finish with arts and crafts in the Ranger Hut.
