Police Probe Suspicious fire in Kirkcudbright

Around lunchtime on Tuesday 2nd October, a major fire was discovered at the unoccupied Park House in Kirkcudbright.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service resources attended the scene and tackled the fire. The nearby road at the entrance driveway to the house was closed to allow access for emergency services. At this time the fire is being treated as suspicious. As a result of this fire the house has been extensively damaged.

Detective Constable Garry Mitchell said, “Park House is a large 12 bedroom house which sits in its own grounds off the A711 to the south side of Kirkcudbright. The property has been unoccupied for some time now. Early enquiries indicate that this fire is suspicious and is being treated as such.
“A full joint fire investigation will be carried out when it is deemed safe enough to do so. At this stage we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been past the house on Tuesday morning, leading up to lunchtime when the fire was discovered.
“We want to hear about anyone who may have been seen entering or leaving the grounds of the house. Callers can contact us on the 101 number and should quote the reference 1499 of 2/10.”
