Thief Took Cash & Charity Boxes From Crossmichael Village Shop

Police in Castle Douglas are investigating a break-in at Crossmichael Shop in the village.

The theft occurred between 8pm last night (Monday 23rd of April) and 5:30am this morning (Tuesday 24th). The person responsible has stolen cash from within, including from the charity collection containers.

Constable Caitlin Murray said “we have been carrying out door to door enquires today and are keen to hear from anyone that may have seen something suspicious or can help identify those responsible. It’s particularly shocking that those responsible would steal from the charity collection containers and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact Police Scotland on the 101 number.”
