Two Men Seriously Injured During Assault in Dumfries

Police Scotland is seeking witnesses to what appears to be two serious assaults following an altercation in Brooms Road, Dumfries in the early hours of Wednesday 18 April 2018 which left two 37 year old local men with a number of serious injuries. Sometime around 1.10am the men were on Brooms Road, near to the driving test centre when the altercation occurred.

Detective Inspector Dean Little at Dumfries said “at this stage we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident. We are however seeking the help of anyone who may have witnessed what actually happened with these two men. Both men ended up at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, and one of the men has since been transferred to Glasgow for further treatment to an injury. We are also reviewing CCTV footage in the area, however would be keen to hear from anyone who can help us in this investigation. In particular we are aware that one of the men was given a lift to hospital by a male in a car in a ‘Good Samaritan’ type gesture, and we would like to hear from this man if he would come forward.
I would also like to reassure the public that this does not appear to be a random attack on these two men and as such there is no danger to the local community. Both men have what are described at this stage as serious injuries and are currently being treated in hospital. Anyone who can assist should call police at Dumfries on the 101 number, quoting the reference 0156/18. Anyone who wishes to pass information and remain anonymous can call the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.”
