Two Sheep Killed By Dog – Newton Stewart

Police Officers received a report of two sheep having been attacked by a stray dog in a field between Castle Cary Caravan Park and the old jetty at Carsluth, near Newton Stewart on Mon 29th June and Tues 30th June.

The owner of the sheep found the dog attacking one of his ewes about 8 pm on 29th June, and the following day discovered another had been attacked. Both died as a result.

The dog was described as being a German Shephard cross with no collar.

A police spokesperson stated “Please remember to lead up your dog when you are walking near fields containing livestock. It is a criminal offence to allow your dog to chase or attack livestock.
If you saw anything or have any information that may assist Police with their enquiries, please phone us on 101 and quote Ref 3694 of 29th June.”
