Visiting Suspended At Annan Cottage Hospital

A VERY speedy response has followed the detection of COVID cases associated with Annan Cottage Hospital.

Visiting has been temporarily suspended along with new admissions and transfers, as work takes place around testing and an enhanced cleaning schedule.

A total of 6 positive cases of COVID have been confirmed among patients associated with this situation.

This comes as high numbers of new cases continue to be detected right across the region – totalling 2906 in the week ending January 12.

Routine in-patient visiting has been suspended at Annan Cottage Hospital as a precaution, with exceptions for end of life, children, and patients with mental health issues including dementia, learning disabilities and autism.

It is possible that some services at Annan Cottage Hospital may be affected by the actions which are being undertaken, and anyone impacted by that will be contacted directly.

Amid the very high numbers of COVID within the local community, a reminder is issued of the very great importance of following current rules and guidance.

Advice continues to be promoted around hand washing, wearing face coverings in indoor public settings, considering interactions with other people, and regular testing for COVID.

Importantly, people are asked to ensure that they log a positive Lateral Flow Device result. New directions means that a confirmatory PCR test is not necessary following an LFD positive where the person has no symptoms, but it is important this result is logged so as to provide a good understanding of the evolving situation.

Vaccinations are continuing to take place by booking through the national portal – visit https://vacs.nhs.scot/csp or call the free number 0800 030 8013 – and via drop-in vaccination clinics which are running across the region.
