Traffic Control Stickers Have ‘Wheelie Bin’ a Good Idea – Moffat

Wheelie-bins are the latest tool to be used to encourage speeding drivers to slow down in towns and villages across Dumfries and Galloway.
New stickers have been designed to resemble the traditional format of speed restriction signs and it means on wheelie-bin collection days there will be dozens of reminders to drivers to check their speed.
Sergeant Morag Drummond of the West Safety Camera Unit said: “These stickers are a great visual reminder to motorists to drive safely, and stick to the speed limit as they enter the town or village. It is believed that temporary signs of this nature have a greater effect on drivers who are reminded periodically about the speed limit in force on the particular stretch of road.

This initiative follows a similar scheme in Lothian and Borders area and we will be issuing the stickers to other towns and villages over the coming weeks and months.
