WOMAN FOUND DEAD ON PATH BY RIVER NITH

SUDDEN DEATH – DUMFRIES

Police Scotland report that the body of 56 year old Jane Brann from New Abbey was found on a path by the River Nith at Kingholm Quay, Dumfries at around 0800 hours on Saturday 20 December 2014. Jane had been reported as a missing person from Dumfries on the evening of Friday 19 December and a search of the surrounding area was being carried out by Police Scotland. A search and rescue helicopter from RN Gannet was also utilised in the search. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
