The Ramblers have been very active this week as they had the monthly mid week walk as well as the normal weekend ones.
Wednesday saw a group of 9 in the Lake District again, climbing Harrison Stickle and Pavey Ark. Despite a grey start it turned into a dry clear day with no wind and excellent views. However the plan to climb Jack’s Rake was abandoned as the rocks were too wet and slippery. Thanks to Tom for leading this walk.
Saturday aw the Ramblers out in force to enjoy the good weather on a walk between Rigg and Annan which involved a bus ride. Thanks go to Ken for organising and leading this walk.
Sunday’s circular walk at Rockcliffe attracted 23 Ramblers including some very welcome new comers and visitors. The route passed through Dalbeattie forest emerging eventually at Portling for lunch on the beach in the hot sunshine . After a short but rather steep climb the group followed the coastal path back to Rockcliffe enjoying fabulous views across the sparkling Solway to the Lakes. The group made it to Dalbeattie garden centre before closing time for a very welcome cuppa. Thanks go to Jean for managing such a large group so well and looking after everyone in the heat of the day.
