Castle Douglas Man Found Guilty For Horrific Sexual Offences

Yesterday April 19th 2017, Gordon Hughes, 53 years of age from Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway was found guilty after trial at Glasgow High Court of a number of serious sexual offences including rape of a female in Castle Douglas in November 2015.

Hughes has been remanded in custody pending sentencing next month.

Detective Inspector Robin Ferguson said, “The outcome of this trial and remand in custody of Hughes will bring closure to a horrific case, which will emotionally affect the victim for the remainder of her life. Police will continue to work with victims and external partners to investigate reports of sexual abuse and I would encourage victims to report abuse to Police.Support mechanisms are available for victims of sexual, emotional and physical abuse.”
