Tributes Flood In For 22 Year Old Serving Soldier Killed In Ecclefechan Car Crash

Tributes are flooding in on the D&G Police Facebook page this evening after they announced the name of the 22 year old man who was killed in the one vehicle collision on the A74(M) near to Ecclefechan last night. 

The victim was 22 year old Craig McLaren a serving soldier from Eastriggs, near Annan. Craig was driving the car, a Ford Fiesta, when the accident happend on the A74(M) at 9.05pm on Wednesday 1 May 2019  on the southbound carriageway.

An 18 year old male passenger suffering from serious injurys was flown from the scene of the accident to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by helicopter, two teenage female passengers aged 16 and 19, who were also described to be suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

A police Spokesperson stated “Enquiries into the cause of the collision are still ongoing and the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.”
