A spectacular celebration of country life is back this summer, on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2025, as Galloway Country Fair once again transforms the stunning grounds of Drumlanrig Castle into a vibrant hub of rural pursuits, thrilling entertainment, and fun for all the family.
From high-octane stunt displays and medieval jousting to dog shows, cookery demos, and live music, this year’s Fair is set to be the biggest and best yet, with exciting new attractions, shopping, and evening entertainment.
The Stannage Stunt Team headlines this year’s arena entertainment, performing jaw-dropping motorcycle and fire stunts that promise to wow the crowd. Also in the main ring, OG Performance Jousting makes its debut at the Fair, an adrenaline-filled display of medieval skill, with horses and riders trained on blockbuster productions including House of the Dragon and Rings of Power.
Don’t miss the Ferret Show by Simon Whitehead and Pakefield Ferrets, a dynamic and educational display showcasing traditional rabbiting techniques. Visitors can enjoy Simon’s engaging arena performance and visit his interactive static display throughout the weekend.
Returning favourites include the Falconry Display with Mark French and the Gun Dog Display by Adrian Slater of Kipperridge Gun Dogs. Saturday’s atmosphere will be fuelled by the sounds of Drums N Roses, while Sunday brings children’s favourite Road Runner to the stage.
Hosted by Nick Morris of Station House Cookery School, Galloway Demo Kitchen will serve up a feast of local flavours, with live demonstrations throughout the weekend. Expect to see Drumlanrig Venison, Galloway Beef, and local supplier showcases all in action.
Back by popular demand, Betty’s Bake Off (named after Betty, the Duke of Buccleuch’s cook for over 40 years) invites visitors of all ages to show off their best bakes, makes, and home-grown produce. With categories ranging from sweet and savoury to drinks, bread, vegetables, and plants, entries are in the running for some spectacular prizes, including exclusive Castle tours with lunch, private garden tours, Drumlanrig Sloe Gin, plant centre vouchers, and a Restoration Yard hamper. The Kids’ Zone is packed with fun including free mini quads, bouncy castles, an assault course, and laser quest. For a small fee, little ones can enjoy bumper cars, a bungee trampoline, and a giant inflatable fun course.
Adults can join in too, with axe throwing, a gun range, and a challenging adult assault course – axe throwing and the assault course are FREE courtesy of Scottish Assault Courses, the estate’s resident adventure team.
Take in a relaxing ride with the majestic Blackstone Clydesdales (free carriage rides), and enjoy the panoramic views from the towering Big Wheel (small charge applies).
Explore a mouthwatering selection of local produce in the fully booked Craft and Food Marquee – filled with returning favourites and exciting new vendors.
