KPT Development Trust are delighted to once again be staging this year’s Kirkpatrick Macmillan (KM) Rally.
The event is a recreational cycling weekend with a wide range of led bike rides held over three days. Fittingly this event was relocated to the Kirkpatrick MacMillan area, where his smiddy and grave are, in adjacent Keirmill. Penpont in mid Nithsdale, will be central to all activities, catering and camping. The area is surrounded by fantastic valleys and hills, and there’s a wide range of scenic led bike rides, with routes for all abilities.
The dates are set for 22-25 May 2026, with an action packed programme, both on and out of the saddle. The base for the event is Penpont village in the beautiful Mid Nithsdale hills.
There’s three days of great and varied cycling routes planned alongside a social programme for the weekend. Each day there is a choice of routes from long to mid range and a shorter family friendly route. The ‘family friendly’ shorter routes are designed for those riding with children (although no kids required to join these rides!) to kid-friendly destinations. These should be suitable for children cycling independently if they can manage a couple of hours riding and are able to tackle some hills, and will be at a slower pace.
Previous years The KM Rally has traditionally been for the more experienced cyclist enjoying longer routes. KPT Development Trust aim to make the event more inclusive and family friendly, by providing shorter routes, places of interest and scenic rural beauty. The KM Rally provides a great opportunity for KPT to showcase this beautiful area providing attractions, activities and a wealth local sites of beauty and interest to explore and enjoy.
All rides will be led by qualified cycling leaders who know the area well.
